Our Privacy Principles

Last Modified: August 25, 2018

At Liquidstreams, our mission is to deliver the best mobile charting experience. When it comes to charting and trading, we place great emphasis on security, privacy, robustness, transparency, and choice. Therefore, we attempt to collect the minimal set of information required to deliver the best experience. Like any great company, we measure what we’re providing and analyze the results to see how we can improve the products to meet your needs.

We value you as a customer and would enjoy getting to know you. But we also highly value your privacy and trust. Therefore, we only ask you for information that we need to get important tasks done.

Our Privacy Policy explains as simply as we can:

  • What information we collect and how we use it
  • How we protect the information
  • What information we share and why would we share it
  • How to contact us if you have questions or concerns

For those readers who like to skim through a document, we start each section with a “Summary”. If the Summary isn’t satisfying enough, you can look at “The Details” for in-depth explanations. If you still need more info after reading “The Details”, see the Contact Us section and send your questions.

What information do we collect and how do we use it?

Summary

  • We collect Usage information to tell us how we can improve ChartTreker.
  • We collect Customer information to track your purchases and deliver the services on all of your mobile devices.
  • Usage information is completely anonymous.
  • Customer information is kept entirely separate and uncorrelated from Usage information.
  • The Usage and Customer information we collect is stored on our servers and/or a Third Party’s server(s), but can only be accessed by Liquidstreams employees.
  • Any and all passwords are kept only on the mobile device and never stored as Customer information.

The DetailsThere are two types of information we collect from your use of ChartTreker. The first type is information on how the application is being used, which we’ll call Usage information. The second type of data we require is Customer information.

Usage Information

Anonymous
The Usage Information is completely anonymous. When ChartTreker is first installed on your device, it creates a random, unique identifier (“Usage Identifier”) that always gets sent as part of the Usage information. Each device has its own random, unique Usage Identifier. Neither the Usage Identifier nor the Usage information contains any personally identifiable information. Usage Identifiers from all devices owned by you are in no way related or linked.

For Improvement
We want to continuously improve ChartTreker, so we gather and use the Usage information to determine what areas require the most work. The Usage information gives us important feedback, like which features are used the most and how much data is downloaded. We aggregate all of the data and then use statistical analysis on the aggregated data to draw conclusions. Based on the Usage data we can then modify ChartTreker to be easier and more efficient to use.

For Debug
We may also use your Usage information to help us debug any issues you are seeing. But since the Usage information is anonymous, we will have to ask you for your Usage Identifier before we can find and access your device’s information. You can choose whether or not you want to provide us with that Usage information. And we will NOT store your Usage identifier in our databases that is in any way linked to your Customer information, unless you give us permission to do so.

Usage Information We Collect
We collect the following Usage information:

  • Bytes of Quote data downloaded to device
  • Bytes of Historical data downloaded to device
  • Counts of features being used
  • Device Screen Size
  • Device Model
  • iOS Name and Version currently installed on device
  • Local Time Zone (only when ChartTreker is first installed)
  • Session Start Time
  • Session End Time
  • Cellular Carrier Country Code (if any)
  • Cellular Carrier Name (if any)

Information WE DO NOT COLLECT
We do not now nor ever plan on collecting the following personal information for the purposes of Usage information.

  • IP Address
  • MAC Address
  • Device UDID

Customer Information
We value you as a customer and would enjoy getting to know you. But we also highly value your privacy and trust. Therefore, we only ask for information that we need to get important tasks done. Delivering services you’ve requested or purchased is one of those “important tasks”. In order to deliver certain services to all of your devices, you will need to create a customer account links all of your devices on which ChartTreker installed. We collect only enough information needed to create a secure customer account.

You will also have the option of providing your email address. You provide it only if you want to receive important news regarding ChartTreker. We assume that nobody likes SPAM email less than we do, so we will only send out email that we believe will help you in a significant way. You will always have the choice of opting out of any or all emails or notifications.

Your Devices
We need a way to identify which devices that have ChartTreker installed are YOUR devices. When ChartTreker is first installed on your device, it creates a random, unique identifier (“Device Identifier”) that gets sent as part of the Customer information. Each device has its own random, unique Device Identifier. Device Identifiers are in no way linked or correlated with Usage Identifiers or Usage Information.

Customer Account Information Usage
Currently, ChartTreker delivers premium features to you when you purchase its auto-renewing subscriptions. When you make a purchase on one device, the transaction information gets sent to our Customer database. If a Customer account does not already exist for your device, one will be automatically created. Then, whenever you “Restore” the purchase on another one of your devices, your Customer account will become linked to the device on which you performed the “Restore”. We do this automatically in the background so that we can make sure that you will always have access to all of your purchases on all of your supported devices.

Customer Information We Collect
We collect the following Customer information:

  • Device Identifier (generated randomly by ChartTreker)
  • ChartTreker App ID
  • ChartTreker Version
  • ChartTreker App Install Date
  • Purchase Information
    • ProductID
    • Purchase Date
    • Price
    • Price Locale
    • Transaction Identifier
    • Transaction Receipt
  • Device Name
  • Username (a unique name chosen by you to easily identify your account)
  • Email Address (optional)

How do we protect your information?

We highly value your privacy and trust. Therefore, we protect your information in various ways to keep it secure and private.

Summary

  • All Usage and Customer information is sent between a device and our secure servers using SSL.
  • All Customer passwords are stored only on device and not in our databases.
  • Usage information is anonymous and never linked to Customer information.
  • The Usage information is stored completely separate from the Customer information.
